The Classroom Deathmatch preorder began at 5am this morning, and I was pleasantly surprised to find that by 6am several people had ordered the book. Thanks everyone!
I was less then pleasantly surprised to discover that the cover has a nice, big typo! Well, maybe typo isn’t the right word. What do you call it when you completely use the wrong word in a foreign language you don’t even speak?
Ayukata Taka’aki was nice enough to point out the error, and tell me that what the title actually says is something like “bookish place of sports”. Serves me right for trying to use a language that I can barely count to ten in. I’d like to blame this all on Matt (who sent me the kanji and understands the language a bit better then I do) but in truth I should have ran this by one of my Japanese speaking friends before I slapped it on the cover. This is all my fault.
So what will we do? luckily no real harm was done. I just look like an idiot. Ayukata Taka’aki recommends “Shi-toh Kyou-shitu”as a replacement, so I’ll make the change later this week. Once the change is made and the new version of the PDF is available I’ll send the new file to anyone who already received a copy. Until then you’ll be stuck with the old file. But if you can’t read kanji then it hardly matters.
This does mean that the copies I had printed for Gamestorm will have the error on the cover. Which sucks. But those were in many ways test copies, and I expected to find some problems I would have to fix before printing the first real print run that will ship on the 17th of April.
There’s a bit of talk about the whole mess on Hatena: Diary. Check it out!
